A world lit by
one lamp.

Cineris is a green land ringed by a sea of ash no lungs can bear, with a single great lighthouse โ€” Lanternspire โ€” burning at its center. Come live a while in Underlight, the town in its light: run errands that turn into stories, delve what's under the inn, and be back at the Last Light for last orders.

Chapter OneThe town around the inn is being written
soon

A land, a tower, and a slow grey tide

The Land

One green country, wider than any map agrees on: the Greyspine mountains in the east, the dark Alderwood in the west, farmland lowlands, seven towns โ€” and at the center of it all fields of wheat and a road that always, eventually, comes home to the light.

The Ash

Beyond the rim there is no more land โ€” only the ash sea, grey and still and fatal to breathe, seeping inward grain by grain. The kingdom's scholars have done the sum: a hundred thousand years before it reaches the center. Or they think. Nobody living knows where the ash came from. Finding out is the story.

The Tower

Lanternspire: seventy-five floors and one lamp, lit every night of living memory. Its beam is the world's clock and compass. At the top โ€” so the rumors say โ€” keeps the Pale Wizard, met only by those who climb. Nobody has. Yet.

The common room of the Last Light Inn โ€” hearth, long tables, the bar, and the painted map

The Last Light Inn

Every road in Underlight ends at the Last Light, and most evenings begin there. It's the social heart of the world โ€” the place to hear the news, pick up work, and argue about the tower over alder ale.

Dustin keeps the bar: broad, grey, and economical with everything except the welcome. Ask him about the gash on his shoulder and he'll tell you about the weather instead. Shannon keeps the common room โ€” and keeps one eye on the door, waiting on a letter that's a long time coming.

The inn is open now: twelve rooms to explore, secrets to scan for, stew worth the three marks. The town around it is being written, one chapter at a time.

Step inside

Four peoples, three paths

The peoples โ€” flavour, never stats

  • Lightfolk โ€” the center-land people, raised in the Lantern's sight.
  • Hillkin โ€” of the foothills and high pastures; patient, weather-wise.
  • Rimfolk โ€” from the land's edge, where the ash is a rumor with a smell.
  • Deepkin โ€” dwellers of the Underdeep, come up into a painfully bright world.

Nobody can pick wrong at the door: your people change your conversations, never your numbers.

The paths โ€” changeable, on a rhythm

  • Warden โ€” sword, shield, and standing between trouble and friends.
  • Scamp โ€” first in, first out, pockets full.
  • Adept โ€” sparks, wards, and mending.

Change your path at a trainer and re-spend your points: the first respec is free, and one comes free every week โ€” experimentation is never a trap here.

How it plays

Chat is the game

Quests and exploration are the main course, combat is one ingredient, and hanging out is gameplay. Roleplay is welcome and never enforced.

Tap it or type it

Every action is a button and a word: if you can see it, you can tap it; if you can say it, you can type it. Built phone-first, keyboard-friendly, screen-reader aware.

Gentle stakes

No player-versus-player at launch. Death costs a little progress and a few carried marks โ€” you wake at the temple with your gear, your level, and a story.

Events

The Saturday Gathering

Once a week the house fills: a hosted event at the inn โ€” sometimes a defence, sometimes a mystery, always company. Saturdays, 6:00 PM Central.

Dusk at the Last Light

A Cineris day lasts an hour of ours, so dusk โ€” and the beam's first pass, and the gathering by the fire โ€” comes round every hour. Whenever you arrive, an evening is starting.

The First Lighting

Our first festival is being written, along with the town it will fill. Dates when the ink dries.

News from the noticeboard

Nov 5, 2026

Underlight opens

The inn's street door is open. Thirty-five rooms of town beyond it: shops that keep daylight hours, a bank that keeps your marks safer than your belt does, a guild taking names, a temple that hands you back to the morning โ€” and, after dark, two gangs walking the back streets wearing their colours at their throats. Captain Vane pays five marks a necklace. The Lantern Way runs straight from the Front Gate to the Square; you cannot get lost unless you go looking.

A proper front door

The inn has a homepage now โ€” this one โ€” and the game lives behind PLAY HERE. Lost keys can be re-cut, too: password reset letters fly from the login page.

Straight through the door

No more letters at the door: an email and a password now take you straight into the inn. (Lost keys can still be re-cut โ€” that letter only ever flies when you ask for it.)

Nov 4, 2026

The Last Light is open

Twelve rooms, one innkeeper, one barmaid, and a cellar door nobody talks about. Dustin keeps the bar; Shannon keeps the room. Come and sit anywhere.

The beam is on its pass.

Whatever's owed you out there can wait for morning.
